Simple Filazafee
A Sad Day in Nap-Town

Sometime this off-season The owner of the Indianapolis Colts, Jim Irsay, will make Peyton Manning the highest player in the NFL. And for any Colts fan who thinks that is a bad idea, I have 2 words for you, Jeff George. Anyway, I predicted a Colts victory over New England and I was terribly wrong. The Pats impressed me by how they rattled Peyton and they are certainly a better team and they deserved the win. The have a great chance of winning the Super Bowl, but I don't think they will. I think Carolina will win it all, I think everyone will be rooting for them, and I think it will be an extremely boring Super Bowl.

So yes I stuck my neck out and talked my trash about New England and now I have written my admission of ignorance, but I do have one question. How did New England get 5 turnovers (6 if you count the safety) and only win by 10 points? Somehow the Colts were in it all the way to the end. How? No matter. New England and Carolina are on their way to Houston and now we have to listen to 2 weeks of hype and analyisis by talking heads on ESPN who don't know anymore than any average football fan about what will happen. The story's will be endless and repeated over and over:

Panthers on a mission
Brady to repeat
Del Homme, the under-dog
Harrison gets his shot at ring
Is Foster better than Davis
Defensive Genius vs. Defensive Genius
Blah,
Blah,
Blah.

It will suck and would suck no matter what teams were in the big game. I love football and the Super Bowl, but please it's just too much. There should only be 1 week between Conference Championships and the Super Bowl. That is plenty. Anyway congrats to New England and Carolina, it will be a good game.

I think I can answer your question on how the Patriots only won by, 10 points. It's simple the Patriots all season have left their opponents in the rear view mirror and have never put them away, except in the Buffalo Bills vengence. I think this Super Bowl will be one of the better, at least better than the Ravens/Giants matchup that no one saw coming at all. The Patriots will be explosive and take advantage of the lacking Carolina offense, with Ty Law or Tyrone Poole covering Steve Smith on a man to man base, the d-line of the Patriots will clog the gaps causing Stephan Davis to try and extend his run by breaking it outside where the Patriots have been strongest against the run.

So the answer to your question is simple, the Patriots were given alot of breaks but the Colts defense stepped up in the red zone and gave away 5 field goals rather than 5 touchdowns, but without that INT at the back of the endzone in the 4th quarter, and if Brady would've connected with Fauria on the next play the score would've put the Colts away for the game. But instead gave the Colts a chance to get back into the game, which one of the best aspects about a Patriots' game. You never know who is going to win because usually the Patriots only have a two score lead and it is possible for the opponent to step up.

But this week will suck and we will here on how the Patriots have won 14 in a row and the only other team to do that was the '72 Dolphins and how the Panthers made a huge 2 year turn around. But hey all this hype will turn some people off but turn alot more on.

Trust me, the hype will not turn anyone on. You either watch the Super Bowl or you don't. The hype won't change that.
